It was February 2007 and the movement of Iraklis fans seemed to be losing their battle with the club regime of Spanoudakis – Mytilinaiou who were the then heads of the club. At the time there seemed to be an absence of a strong link amongst the fans and everyone was just bearing witness to a football team on the verge of the Second division and fans of our club being imprisoned on a regular basis.
However, these events did not seem to discourage a portion of the Iraklis fans , who took the initiative to capture the offices of the club overnight and stage a siege! An occupation that during its one month length united the most ‘active’ part of the fan base, regardless of age and regardless of whether someone came from one of the club’s organised fan groups or not.
The occupation will go down in history not only for the resultsit introduced within the team and management structure of the club, but also for the legacy it left behind for the whole ultras movement of Iraklis. This period of upheaval helped us immensely by bringing all the fan base united under one front. We established a new base , choosing to decide together and in joint action to pursue our vision an autonomous Iraklis without having the need for ‘puppeteer’ administrations and management which are influenced by external administrations and politics or the police controlled state that persecutes and imprisons our fans.
Even though these visions seem distant to the club, we strongly pursue the existence of an independent fan movement which grows stronger on solid foundations . Necessary step to this direction is an autonomous association of organized supporters, independent from club administrations, who can voice its own independent actions wherever it chooses or feels the need to do so. An organised support group that will support Iraklis everyday and everywhere and play a dynamic and decisive role in the development of the club without being subdued or influenced by factors , such as current club management, journalists, politicians , etc.
Therefore, due to all the above, in November 2007, the Autonomous Gate 10 was born! A necessary element of our operation, the financial independence and any kind of independence for that matter from any sort of club administration or official control. We believe this is a necessity resulting from the consequence of our opposition to the control exercised often to fans by external elements such as club management and even from the institutions of the State. Knowing that the road is not paved with roses, we determined to tread this risky road at all costs , holding high the banner of our beloved Iraklis.
