UAFA Cup 2015 – Antiracist Football Tournament in Trenčín (Slovakia) 27.6 2015
When I was planning my last weekend in June, UAFA Cup was an obvious choice. I visited this tournament last year for the first time and it was a great experience. Moreover, this year guaranteed an interesting supporting programme which included a discussion with Sebastien Louis (member of Commando Ultrá from Olympic Marseille) and introducing a new short movie Beverly by a legend of football hooligans Cass Penannt (Inter City Firm West Ham United).
UAFA Cup is organised by antifascist initiative Tribúny sú naše (The Stands are ours), Ultras Trenčín and AS Trenčín. The idea to organize a tournament came spontaneously in 2012 as a beneficial event for MTZ Ripo Minsk (now Partizan Minsk). The tournament was a great success, so the organizers decided to continue and the first tournament took place in 2013. All tournaments were beneficial, in 2015 all the money from the registration fees, souvenirs, concert entry and refreshments went to OZ Trenčianské labky – a facility taking care of abandoned animals.
We went to Trenčín on Friday to enjoy the atmosphere of the city and our friends. We also support them as often as we can at their matches with their team AS Trenčín. We were 11 people together (Barflies + Boheamians Praha 1905 supporters) on the road and most of us participated in the tournament, although our football qualities are rather limited 😀
I am a member of Gangsters Girls crew (girls from AS Trenčín + me), but the same as last year we ended the tournament in the qualification group. Nevermind! We enjoyed the tournament together with the other teams from Slovakia and special visitors from Minsk (supporters of Partizan Minsk). There was a very friendly atmosphere, we met many old friends and also made new ones, this tournament is a great opportunity to connect people with the same interests and beliefs.
See you in Trenčín in 2016!
